Forgotten
Yesterday's forest
Once you stood
Groundgripping tall
Reduced,
After the fall
Stripped, river tumbled,
Hardened, carved, starved
Decomposed
Driftwood.
Your freshwater journey
Drifting, unnoticed
Passing by
Lazy opportunistic
Chainsaw eyes.
Your journey ends
On swallowing sandbanks
And
Even laying down
In this makeshift state
Still
A towering statue
This resting windbreak
You create.
