Tombre Walls lollokiki

Updated: Apr 22, 2020

A Trombe wall is a passive solar building design where a wall panel is built on the winter sun side of a building with a glass external layer and a high heat capacity internal layer separated by a layer of air. As light passes through the glass it is then absorbed by the wall that then re-radiates hence heating the inside of the building. Trombe walls are commonly used to absorb heat during sunlit hours of winter then slowly release the heat over night.

In the past we've been involved with a few sustainable building projects.

This commission involved making large tombre panels for a self sustaining house. No one said a tombre wall had to be boring. Why not make an art work of something you walk past every day.
